First Grade Word Wall Words

Why do we have spelling words?- English is a complex language with many variations in letter sounds. Categorizing words into spelling patterns helps students notice similarities in other words, and how it sounds  together in more complex words. When they learn the basic chunks, they will be able to apply them in their reading and writing. We will begin working on short vowels and blends then focus on long vowel spelling pattern. We are incorporating these words into our Sitton Spelling program. Please practice these words at home with your child. There will be a  spell check at the end of every week.
